3 Here is a list of the nations that the Eternal left in the land to test those Israelites who had not gone to war in Canaan, ² so that those who had not experienced war personally might know it: ³ the five Philistine capital cities, all the Canaanite tribes, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on the mountains of Lebanon from Mount Baal-hermon to the entrance of Lebo-hamath.
